My students need physical education equipment like a badminton kit, beans bags, jump ropes, and a fitness CD (for those days when we can not go out doors to play).
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Physical activity is good for general health. For my students, it can also help boost brainpower, increases self-esteem and confidence!
I have a second grade class that are English language learners.
My students come from low socioeconomic families struggling to make enough money to cover their basic needs of food and shelter. Others are unemployed. These kids come to school ready to learn and engage with each other.
My Project
With the physical education equipment I am requesting such as a badminton kit, beans bags, jump ropes, and a fitness CD, I will be able to teach my students coordination, agility, quickness, footwork, and endurance. Not only will they get the opportunity to use equipment but I will be able to show them how physical activity will help boost their general health and mental well being.
Students have access to some equipment during their recess time but not all the students have equal access to it.
By getting a class set of jump ropes, all my students will be able to participate in the activity and learn how to properly use one. If the weather does not allow for outdoor activity, the fitness CD will come in handy because my students will still get to be active. The badminton set will help expose my students to equipment they have never used before.
