My Students

My students are an amazing group of children. They come from various backgrounds and life experiences which have impacted their learning. We learn self-regulation, coping skills, empathy and many social skills needed to be successful in school and life. Our disability spectrum is wide and needs are many. They have sensory, behavioral and social-emotional needs that we try to meet daily. They love to learn, they love to move and love hands-on projects and activities. They are a close-knit group that stays together for 3 years and they become a great group of friends.

My Project

These wobble chairs will help our students concentrate and work out that extra energy so they can learn. This will also help impulsive behavior and sensory needs by providing movement. I have seen the benefits of flexible seating in other classes and schools, so I am positive that these chairs will make a huge difference for our class. The need for movement while learning has been proven effective and children are more eager and their brains are wired to learn through movement. We will be able to use these all day, in all subject areas and during our free reading time.
