My Project
For each science unit that we complete in class, I provide a notes packet for students to fill out with their notes, ideas, discoveries, and predictions. These packets have proven to be more helpful than notebooks because it gives the students a more concrete structure for their notes, which helps them better organize their thoughts and engage in more meaningful learning with the lessons.
However, with the switch from notebooks to packets, there has been one problem that has come up: ORGANIZATION.
Students struggle to keep their packets organized in a folder or a binder of their own, as I often see them on the floor, left behind on the desks, or lost in another teacher's classroom.
With these binders and storage bins, I hope to give my students the opportunity to organize their packets in a smart and sensible way that will not only help them be better prepared for assessments, but will serve as proof of quality learning over time. Binders will stay in the classroom, so students can have access to them every day and so that there is no risk of the materials getting lost. It is so important that students learn good organization skills, especially in middle school. I think that this project will be a tremendous help to my students.
