This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I'm blessed to work at a special education center school for students in grades K-12. Our amazing program is located in Michigan. We serve students with a wide variety of psychiatric, cognitive, and behavioral needs. We serve students from our entire city.
Our school has thirty-seven beautiful young people with varying strengths and weaknesses.
Their backgrounds are as diverse as their abilities.
We are all unique, but we are definitely a family here.
My Project
At our school, we have a comprehensive hygiene closet that allows students to select necessary bath and body products for home and school use. They can select toothbrushes, deodorant, combs, chapstick, sanitary products, clothing, and more.
We have been generously blessed recently and have more items than we do storage.
Our items are in broken down cardboard boxes, poorly visible and the organization is lacking. Clothing needs to be sorted and shelved by size and put into clear boxes so students can see them. Items should be off the floor on shelves. We are requesting a 4 tier shelf system to add to the closet as well as a variety of sizes of storage containers to organize and clean up our hygiene closet area. Thank you so much!
