Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When my students and I said our goodbyes one Friday in mid-March, little did we know that it was going to be for the remainder of the school year. Many went home with a school issued laptop computer and a folder of worksheets that we thought would last for the time needed.

Boy, were we wrong!

We were definitely not prepared for the events that were to come. As an educator in a low income, highly transient urban area of Miami-Dade County, my kiddos and I are normally faced with many challenges and we are accustomed to jump whatever hurdles are encountered as I address my learners' educational needs.

Regardless of our current challenges though, the majority of my students are very determined and eager to succeed. In spite of their personal experiences, most of my students are very active, enthusiastic learners who possess a thirst for knowledge. So, we persevered and are now engaged in distance learning and video conferencing through Zoom in order to accomplish our educational goals.

My Project

Working in a clean and organized learning environment helps my kiddos relax, have fun and get motivated and ready to learn. My students and I could use a few materials in order to create and maintain an organized home office and classroom environment. There is still no certainty regarding our district's back to school plan. Some possible models include at home distance learning combined with at school instruction. Regardless of which model will be used the materials requested will be very helpful in providing an organized learning environment.

One of the most important benefits of organizing your space is reduced stress.

Simply having a more efficient system to keep track of your papers, books and materials can help minimize stress-influenced conditions and keep my students focused and on task. We need a storage bins in order to keep books, notebooks and supply pouches in one secure and organized location next to the work table. With these located adjacent to their table, everything will be in its place and my students will not waste valuable learning time trying to decipher who the items belong to. The bins will be used to keep our class cubbies and cabinets neat and clutter-free. The labels, name tag holders, clip dispenser, tape and paper shredder will be used in an attempt to maintain organized. The markers and shredded paper will be used to engage in projects and ecofriendly crafts. Together these materials will make for a safe and organized learning environment that is conducive to learning.
