This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a district where all of the students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Many of my incoming 4th graders do not read on grade level. Many of them do not have books at home to read or get the help they need at home. Reading at school is crucial and so are the supplies we need in order to make that happen.
My students are eager to learn and want to make progress to be ready for middle school.
My goal is not only to help them become successful as students but as members of their community. Please help us reach our goals!
My Project
These book bins will help my students to have a place to keep the books they choose to read during their D.E.A.R (drop everything and read) time everyday. Students will be able to choose books that interest them and that they are able to read on their reading level. With a place to keep their books, my students can focus more on their reading rather than having to get up to find more books that they are interested in. Having them in one spot also cuts down on the distractions to themselves and other classmates. Please help us get organized and on track to being the best readers we can be.
