My students attend a large, urban, public school with 950 students. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 76% of our students receiving free lunch.
Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in our city.
Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, Gujarati, Cantonese, and Arabic, among others! As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are also diverse learners.
We have many opportunities for growing as learners, including a STEM program, a full music program with band and choir, an Arabic language program, and many clubs, teams, and after-school programs that nourish and interest everyone!
My Project
We will be starting a brand new school year soon. We want to make sure we start off well!
We need some help getting ~ and staying organized in this new school year.
Many students do not have the materials they need to start the year off well. Some brand new tools, will help us get organized -and stay organized this school year! If there is a place for everything, then we can be sure to put everything in it's place! Having desk caddies that will hold our pencils, scissors, crayons, and glue sticks will keep our tools on hand and easy to find so that we are ready for every learning adventure! Magnetic caddies will keep our dry erase markers on hand for our group work on the whiteboard. Magnetic hooks will give us a place to hang our I.D lanyards so that we don't waste valuable time searching for them! The seat cushions will be housed under our tables, thus reducing the time spent locating and choosing a comfortable learning spot! Our hope is that these new tools will keep us organized all year long by giving us a home for our supplies, papers, tools, materials, and even ourselves! If we start this year off on the right foot by getting organized, who knows where we can end up? The sky is the limit!
