Our school serves a very diverse student population. We have a French language immersion program. We offer orchestra, yoga, cooking, and art. The kids are joyful and bright. They love to learn. I have newcomers to French and students learning English as well. We use the Reading and Writing workshop curriculum to engage our young students.
As we grow, we need supplies and materials for the new students and classes.
The district does not provide additional funding for our increased enrollment so we rely on the generosity of the wider community to help support our students.
My Project
The students need materials to help them get organized. If I hold them accountable for building a portfolio of their work, they need white binders and a mailbox/cubby system to keep everything together.
All teachers at my school use color-coded library bins to support the guided reading instructional program that we teach.
In order for the kids to easily access the books at their reading level, we need red and green bins. since the children have been taught this system since kindergarten, they know what to expect in the library. We just need the bins to provide the structure for the students. Thank you for considering our project. These materials will make a huge difference for our kids!
