Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school come from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. We have students from many different countries. Many don't speak English and are economically disadvantaged. Despite this, my students come to class eager and ready to learn.
My students are passionate about art and science.
They love using their imagination and creativity to come up with original and unique projects.
This year has been rough because our small town was hit by Hurricane Harvey. My students are slowly getting back to normal as we rebuild and get used to a new normal.
My Project
Our art room is old, cluttered, and not functional for my students' needs. Most of our containers are broken and barely usable. Our classroom periods are short and I have zero transition time between classes. We do not have time to waste cleaning up messes caused by broken bins.
The materials I have requested will greatly help us have a classroom that is organized, clean, and functional.
The art caddies I have requested are colored. This will allow me to set up table groups by color. This not only helps me, but helps my young students understand where to sit and what materials belong to them. It also will help them be responsible for their own art supplies.
The storage shelves and bins will help us get and store supplies quickly. In our fast-paced room this is a must! The spray paint will be used to paint old lunch trays that students can use for painting. This will eliminate huge messes. The tape and posters will be used to create a room that is aesthetically pleasing and will allow me to teach key art elements and procedures.
If funded, these materials will drastically improve our classroom. We will stop wasting time cleaning and have more time to make beautiful Art!
