Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
They say that time is money and that every minute counts. This is especially true in our class. We are on a very tight schedule and need to get classroom supplies as quickly as possible to maximize our learning time. That's why we need help getting organized.
As a teacher at a Title I school, I get to work with some pretty amazing kids.
They are bright, inquisitive, and full of life. Many are limited English proficient and most come from low income families, but they don't let this stop them. They are eager to learn and really push themselves to do well in school.
My Project
Teaching can be a real challenge; there is so much to do and so little time to do it in. Every moment is precious, but we lose time every day passing out supplies or trying to find materials for our lessons.
This past year, we asked for chair pouches to help us organize materials in a nearby room used to separate our 3rd/4th grade class for grade-level instruction. We were able to get 16 of them and they were exactly what we needed! This coming year, we would like to use the chair pouches in our regular classroom, but need more to have a classroom set.
With the chair pouches, we will be able to keep supplies where students have immediate access to them. No more standing in line to get whiteboards, markers, and erasers. No more digging through desks for scissors, crayons, and pencils. Not only will we able to begin lessons in a fraction of the time, but we will also be able to put things away much more quickly.
My new students have the potential to do great things this coming year.
They just need adequate time to do it in. With your help, we will be able to maximize our learning time... and yes, every minute counts.
