Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It is imperative that students be organized and motivated in order to learn.
The requested items such as the supply bags, crayon boxes, and pencil sharpeners , velcro stars and primary journals will help my students become organized and increase their time on task.
For example, the individual sharpeners will be utilized by students at their desks minimizing the need to stand up during instructional time to exchange their pencil. The primary journals will be utilized to keep track of all their written responses. This will enable students, parents and teachers to see their writing progress throughout the academic year. The velcro stars will be used to mark special places in the classroom where kids can sit and read. This will encourage and motivate students to read independently once they are done with their classwork.
As students demonstrate respect, responsibility and organizational skills, they are given a raffle ticket. Once a week, we have a raffle. The pencils, erasers and other small items will be used as prizes during our weekly raffle.
The goal for this project is to teach my students organizational skills by giving them the tools to facilitate this life long skill and to keep them motivated by acknowledging their hard work with raffle tickets and prizes.
Learning organizational skills is an essential part of life. My students are special because they are eager to learn and take on more responsibility. They need guidance and tools in order to reach these goals. I feel that this project will help me give them the tools they need to learn organizational skills and increase their time on task and ultimately their learning.
