My students have truly enjoyed playing with all the new centers. They are aware that these were a gift, and witnessing their pride in caring for these items brings immense joy to my heart. As kindergarteners, we are focused on teaching sharing, caring for others, and being responsible for our materials. The excitement was palpable when the boxes arrived, and seeing them play and care for the items in the centers has been truly rewarding. Thank you so much for making such a significant difference in our classroom. The students worked diligently on their letters, and I apologize if they are not perfect, but I can assure you they put their best effort into writing them for you.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and making my classroom a much more pleasant place,","fullyFundedDate":1756997083491,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-in-more-fun-activities-to-our-d/9639442/","projectTitle":"Bringing in More Fun Activities to Our Developmental Centers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Au","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp454644_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754977157007","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-jau"},{"teacherId":1824703,"projectId":9448234,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating the social skills books. They have really made a difference in helping to create a culture of inclusion and acceptance in my classroom. \r\nFirst of all, utilizing the donated books, we focused on the skill of making friends. Students were taught how to approach a peer to invite him/her to play. We talked about the importance of body language and different things they could say to engage a peer in play. Sadly, these are skills that some of my students were lacking. \r\n\r\nFurthermore, the books have been utilized to start conversations about emotional regulation. Students have learned strategies to self regulation such as counting to 10, deep breathing and visualization. \r\n\r\nFinally, after each lesson these books are placed in our classroom library so that students can refer to them throughout the year. Every week, we review these strategies as a class and talk about how and when to use them. When my students saw the bookshelf, they got very excited! They all wanted to contribute with organizing our class books. They knew that our previous small shelves were falling apart and wouldn't last longer. This decreased students' interest to select books to read for pleasure. \r\n\r\nOnce the bookshelf was assembled, I opened my classroom before school for any student to come help organize the books. I had about 15 students come in to help! Some organized the books by gender, others helped label the categories and others were double checking that the books were placed in the correct categories. This year, I've had more students come to me daily asking for a snack. While I add snacks to my donation wish list, it's an item I rarely receive. I often have to purchase them myself. This year, however, I am grateful to say that I have enough snacks to hopefully last the entire year. With 25 students, usually only one or two ask for a snack, but I encourage them to bring something from home if they can. This year, thanks to your generous donation, I was able to obtain incredible, sturdy, and bright folders. The children know which folder is for writing and which is for unfinished work.
