Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Beautiful Southern California! It's a great place to be outside and to be active. Since many of my students do not have the opportunity to join organized sports, this project will give them the chance to learn basic athletic skills along with the joy of active play!
The students I work with are great kids, coming from loving families who want the best for them.
My students come to school excited to learn, and try their best to achieve our high expectations everyday. Our school is located in a low income area with most students receiving free or reduced lunch. Most of my students have limited resources outside of school, so their only chance to experience enriching activities is at school.
My Project
I've requested active play resources to use during PE time. These materials will support the California PE standards, but in fun and creative ways. A beautiful, colorful parachute will give them the chance to grab and stretch, to feel weightless movement as the parachute fills with air, and to play fun games as a whole class. With these skill building equipment my students will love learning to throw, catch, race, jump rope... all the great things kids should be doing outside!
This project will give my students a safe place to enjoy outside, active games.
Our school neighborhood is not always a safe place for families to be outside, so many of my students' playtime is limited to video games. I want them to learn to love being outside, playing, working together, and having fun!
