For many of my students, kindergarten is their first experience in a school setting. Due to safety protocols, they will be spending a large portion of their day inside one classroom in an assigned space that is six feet away from other students.
This year school will look and feel very different, but my students deserve to have a safe and comfortable learning space that has engaging and fun materials.
Kindergartners are eager, full of energy, funny, and kind - and I love working with them every day. My students attend an incredible elementary school in Virginia where we value making connections and putting the needs of students first.
My Project
My students love being active, and keeping them moving effectively while being in one room for most of the day can be a challenge. Some days we cannot go outside due to bad weather, and we need more materials that allow for gross motor development
The balance beam and boards help to develop balance and spatial awareness.
The bowling game can help develop rolling, aim, and counting skills. The stilts help students practice coordination and balance, while inviting a lot of laughter into our classroom. Each of these materials can be used by an individual student before being easily disinfected. Physical activity is beneficial for students' mental health and promotes lifelong healthy habits. By donating to this project, you will help young, wonderful students continue to develop their physical skills, in a variety of fun, engaging ways!
