My students need equipment for indoor and outdoor recess like playground balls, jump ropes, a basketball, Fitivities kids fitness/exercise game, ball pump, and large buckets for equipment storage.

My Students

We are a Title I school located in a small rural town in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Our students all receive free breakfast and lunch due to the number of low-income families that attend our school.

I have a classroom full of amazing little learners.

They are curious, energetic, very social, and eager to learn. I've found that they work wonderfully together when they have opportunities to explore, converse, and create together. As all kids do, this group requires lots of movement during the day. I do my best to incorporate movement throughout our day. We have the Microsoft App Move It set up on our computer that gives us a movement task every thirty minutes, we do Brain Breaks periodically during the day and we have two recess times each day - a short one in the morning and a longer one in the afternoon.

My Project

Our school has a great playground and an additional large field and track, but I am lacking any recess equipment.

The exercise, movement, and play that students get during recess is instrumental in their academic success.

I would love to have some sporting equipment that would introduce my students to different sports and also would allow them to play together as a team. The jump ropes, balls, and ball scoop games will be terrific for improving coordination. The Fitivities game would be a great indoor recess alternative. As I mentioned earlier, I have a very energetic class and I feel it is my job to encourage them to keep their bodies moving and strong!
