Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

An empty playground with a few run-down tricycles and couple of jump ropes and balls will not get anyone moving, but when you fill it with rich active play materials, anyone would be ready to run, move, and play!

My students are 4 and 5 year old children who live in a low socio-economic community.

The majority of students are English language learners. They are great kids, but many times have to deal with difficult situations in their lives. Though our school may not be located in a great area, we work hard to give our students an inviting place to learn and experience new and memorable things and an opportunity for a better life.

My Project

With these materials, all students will be moving around and exercising their bodies. Currently, we do not have enough active play materials for all students to use. Many students have to wait around for materials to become available. With these resources, all students could be involved and moving. Students would rotate throughout the various activities, one group can be working on coordination and teamwork with the parachute, other groups playing ball, another group working on their gross motor skills with the bean bag toss, a group dancing and waving with their colored hand ribbons, and a final group bowling. All these activities, will get my students moving, get their heart rates going, and energize their mind and spirits. Most of all they will be having so much fun!

Today, so many children are making poor health choices and just not being active enough.

I want my students to feel good and have fun, all while doing things to help their overall health. These resources will inspire my students to move, dance, and get on their feet. They will have a blast, while staying fit!
