Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Think about the time when you were in high school gym class and playing games with your friends and trying to look good and feel more fit? Help my students gather those memories by giving them the means to increase their fitness level and feel the positive results.
My students are freshmen in our large high school and love to participate, we need more equipment for our work out stations.
We do as much as we can without equipment, like push ups and sit ups but by adding a variety of active equipment we would really increase the level of my students excitement and increase their upper body strength as well as their core strength. Everyday they come to gym suited up and ready to participate, they love to try out new exercises and they feel proud when they work and play hard together. This young, diverse group would benefit greatly from the addition of new equipment which will add more depth and variety to our daily activities.
My Project
I have requested a variety of sports equipment for my students. First, the students would have the gift of exercise. Instead of just going outside and talking with their friends, they would be able to work together build their strength and stamina and improve their fitness level. Secondly, my students would also gain socialization skills and be able to quickly see the results of their hard work. The activities I choose would allow more students to interact and become friends. Instead of just playing with the same one or two friends each day, the students would be able to branch out and get to know more of their classmates through partner work outs and competitive games. Also, the students would have more healthy competitive experiences. These materials would allow me to teach good sportsmanship, and allow the students to use the skills they learn.

These materials will last a very long time and benefit hundreds of students in ways that will last forever. Giving students the ability to exercise by adding variety to our work out stations will create opportunities for new friendships, and develop good sportsmanship and camaraderie are skills that will impact these students for the rest of their lives.
My students will benefit greatly from these fun activities.
