This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This tool will empower my 3rd and 4th grade SPED students to create their own materials for reading and math providing numerous benefits, both educational and personal. My students live in a low-socioeconomic area of our city and often lack educational resources at home to enrich their learning.
Allowing students to create their own materials enables them to personalize learning resources according to their unique needs and preferences.
Special needs students will develop independence and self-reliance, which contributes to academic success and prepares them for various aspects of life, resulting in deeper understanding of the subject matter and learning styles. This activity will improve skills in areas such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
The process of creating materials fosters a collaborative relationship between teachers and students. This collaboration allows educators to gain insights into students' thought processes and learning styles, facilitating more effective and targeted support.
More than half of students from low‑income households
