My Students

Our school follows three messages that we continually revisit every day: This is important! We can do it! We won't give up! We apply these three messages to our schoolwork and also to our interactions with one another.

My first graders catapult their own learning to the most amazing heights.

They are inquisitive, thoughtful, and love a good challenge. As their teacher, it is my hope to instill a love of learning and a drive to persevere that will carry them not only in my classroom, but during their childhood and beyond!

My Project

First graders grow all the way from beginning to read in the fall to devouring chapter books by the end of the year. To encourage their ability to write words, whiteboards are the most engaging and exciting tool for this skill. They can be used in whole group, small group, and individually. It is also essential that first grade students can blend sounds to create words, which is exactly the purpose of the CVC unifix cubes/activities. The different sets will allow me to differentiate based on student need. My students will drool over these engaging resources, but not as much as me!
