Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." -- Benjamin Franklin One way my students love to learn is through the use of technology. My students will use technology as a tool this year to foster learning by using devices and its related programs for different subjects.

My students are enthusiastic 5th graders who are excited for their final year in elementary school.

They are bursting with energy to have a strong year and are highly motivated to learn. Their positive attitude enables them to be hard workers and focused. Not only are they oldest students at school, they are now probably the biggest students as well! My class is made up of 25% English Language Learners, which has me using various teaching methods to help them learn the English language along with the other 5th grade standards, including the Common Core. Being at a Title I school, we are limited when it comes to technology. We lack a computer lab at the school. We also do not have computers or tablets in our classroom, so we are very eager to start our own technology lab of our own!

My Project

I believe all my students, including my English Language Learners and my learning and hearing impaired students, will benefit from having laptops and a printer in the classroom. My students will be able to use the laptops to do research to help them complete future reports and projects. They will practice their typing skills as they type up essays and even print them out on our printer! They will apply their skills and learning from class as they work on educational games to help stimulate their problem solving skills during their independent work time. With a full classroom of 34 students, we need the use of 4 laptops to share among the class and to ensure each student has an equal opportunity to use them.

All my students will positively benefit from the laptops.

My students are used to texting on their cellphones, so laptops in the classroom will give all students an opportunity to learn to research, correctly type, and print out their final product! They will be proud of their hard work! Fun educational games will allow students to learn new concepts and improve on their problem solving skills. My students will be motivated to use these laptops on a daily basis.
