This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A Zen Zone or calming corner will help my students with special needs have a safe place to calm down and manage their emotions. The carpet gives them a place to sit and breathe. The flexible seating gives them options to choose what works best for them. The sensory fidget and liquid sensors help calm my students' nerves and distract them when they feel overstimulated.
The tile magnets help students use their energy to create different architectural wonders while allowing them to take breaks when they are overwhelmed and anxious in the classroom.
The weighted cuddle dog provides them with comfort, like a big hug that helps with anxiety, and when students are upset, it provides them with something to hold on to. I feel that a Zen Zone creates a safe, nurturing environment for all students to learn.
