My Project
I will be providing physical education classes for students in kindergarten and first grade. Some of these students have a range of conditions (i.e. on the autism spectrum, have significant cognitive delays, sensory impaired and/or multiply disabled.) My goal as their physical education teacher is to support my students in their developmental abilities and to assist in their physical and emotional growth.
This project will be used to encourage and motivate my students to participate in vigorous physical activities that are fun and beneficial to their health.
All children spend time sitting at school, doing homework and reading. But it’s important to strike a balance and find more opportunities for them to move. Movement activities should include riding a bike, playing, running, improving their balance, stretching and learning yoga poses. For example, some of my students need to work on improving their balance so they aren't falling while walking or going up/down the stairs. This is where the balance beams and balance pad in this project will come to play. Implementing ideas like the kids yoga dice is another way to work on improving their balance, as well as improving their core strength, which are skills needed to sit and engage in the classroom.
Having these materials will ensure that my kids are having fun in our gym sessions. The variety will give my students more choices so they will never be bored! My students deserve the best and this project will go a long way in supporting them. Thank you for your consideration in donating!
