This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are taught safety, kindness, responsibility and respect as they are highly accepting of peers with autism to create friendships due to the training and effort the teachers have put in to educate them about students with autism.
Our school's students are highly diverse in their culture, socioeconomic background and needs.
I work with children from regular education first to fifth grade regular education and special education autism specific classrooms.
Our community is accepting and invite to all students from all cultural and economic backgrounds. Children love to play and converse with peers about fun topics from Pokemon, soccer, books, movies and more. Students do not see disabilities rather they see friends to play with and talk to. Being supportive to children with special needs becomes a natural part of our student's day.
My Project
Kids are turning to the internet to socialize and play games now. We need to keep up with the way children play. The Speech and Language Department need updated digital speech and language games to engage learning and have fun. When kids have fun they internalize information faster with less repetition, it's a proven fact. Bringing digital games to children will allow them to learn while having fun with each other. These games will be individually chosen for students depending on their needs in speech, articulation, fluency, vocabulary development, social skills and grammar. Let's support our students to learn in a fun way at their pace.
