This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a 3rd grade teacher at a Title I, K-8 span school. Majority of our students participate in the free breakfast, lunch, and supper program. We have a tight-knit community of teachers, staff, parents and local neighborhood families that believe in the importance of education. Our school's mission is to provide a world-class education for all students by ensuring a safe, nurturing, and collaborative student-centered environment that fosters student achievement, values effort, and promotes social justice. My 24 students are energetic, eager to learn and look at each day as a day to learn something new.
My Project
My 3rd grade students are super enthusiastic about learning and are always on the move. They are in need of wobble chairs, cushions, and balance balls. The addition of this type of flexible seating will enhance my students learning immensely. They currently have a few options in my transitioning classroom. High tables for students who prefer standing and a carpet for students who like to spread out a bit.
Through flexible seating students will be given a learning environment they need.
Flexible seating provides choices, comfort, movement and collaboration all in one. With a variety of seating choices, students can take ownership over their learning space, move about as needed and help foster making independent learning decisions.
