Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second graders are creative, fun, and talented. These kids teach me how to be a better teacher every day.
My students deserve the experience of quality educational tools.
I teach in Midland, Texas. Our elementary campus is striving to overcome obstacles and prepare students for the future. My 21st-century students crave exciting academic experiences. As their teacher, I strive to fill our daily schedule with fun and engaging lessons to help my students reach their own best. I am a very proud teacher.
My Project
My students love technology. As educational technology becomes more prominent in the classroom, many schools have taken to creating a 1 on 1 ratio between students and technology. Whether they are computers, laptops, or iPads, my students deserve this experience too. We are 5 devices shy of a 1:1 device ratio. I'd like to give the kids laptop devices.
Teachers have found great success when each student in their classroom has their own individual device to work on.
These kids are going to be so excited to have the opportunity to have their very own access to a device throughout the day without having to share. Technology education is now a form of literacy and preps these kiddos for the college or tech school classroom. So many careers utilize technology. These kids need to learn the basics and be very familiar with technology now. During COVID19, it has been a struggle to sanitize and disinfect each device between students utilizing the Ipads and especially sanitizing the large desktop computers, keyboards, towers, etc. I'd like the opportunity to allow another classroom to use our school-issued dated desktop computers. The Chromebooks would be much more sanitary. Laptop keyboards would be so great for the kids to be able to really practice typings, complete lessons via the district computer programs, as well as improve our techy skills. My students really deserve a device to use throughout the school day during these unprecedented times. Kids deserve technology in our ever-changing world. Please help us out!
