it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever seen a beautiful, short film with horrible sound quality? My students create many digital media projects and need USB microphones to do voice-overs and assist with sound quality. They love being a part of our media program but our school doesn't have the funds for the technology.
My students are bright and creative.
They are all as unique as can be. They come from all over the city, all socioeconomic types, all ethnicities, and all learning abilities ranging from special education to gifted. Many have experienced discrimination and bullying because they speak a different language and come from different cultural backgrounds. Instead of continuing to wallow in their own oppression, my students are using their talents to rise above. My students are using digital media as an outlet to produce art, films, and other media to voice their concerns and inform others.
My Project
My students will use these 14 USB microphones for podcasts and to add voice and dialogue to their short films and PowerPoint presentations. More specifically, they will be able to add interviews and oral histories to a community profile project. This project will allow my students to profile their neighborhood. They will become familiar with the value in the relationships and histories of their community and also find the needs and think critically about what can be done to meet those needs. These projects will be showcased at the end of the school year.

They will learn how to add voice to film and other presentations.
These are important skills and experiences that will prepare them for life after high school. They will also provide many job opportunities that are specific to the industry in our city. However, all of my students, even those that choose to attend a four year school, will have the tools necessary to survive in the digital world.
