Help me give my students access to digital distance learning resources to help motivate and engage them to participate in distance learning activities and to promote their independence with both academic and social skills.
I teach at a vibrant community school located in the heart of Minnesota. My classroom is a resource special education classroom that supports students with varying abilities and exceptionalities. We adapt the general education curriculum to meet the diverse needs of the students and to increase their opportunities to maintain, generalize, and transfer both academic and social skills to other environments.
My students are kind, thoughtful, and empathetic leaders who are building academic skills and social skills that will help them become independent learners and thinkers through their experiences, inquiry, and action.
The students in my classroom need a structured environment with a small number of students and many direct teaching opportunities. The students in my classroom have varying levels of needs and are able to participate in a general education classroom with a larger group of students with appropriate supports and modifications.
The school is located in an urban setting and serves many children who qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch and experience homelessness. The district has limited funding and special education programs rarely receive the materials they need. Often we need to create or purchase materials on our own in order to meet our students' needs.
My Project
All students have unique mental, physical, social-emotional, and educational needs. Students need digital interactive opportunities throughout distance learning to connect with their peers and teachers and to successfully participate in classroom activities. Digital interactive opportunities help students focus, control their bodies, and support their independence throughout the school day to increase their academic achievement and social engagement as we navigate the new normal of distance learning.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student confidence with digital interactive activities during distance learning, you will ultimately assist to increase their academic achievement.
The digital interactive activities from Teachers Pay Teachers are created specifically for students who receive special education services. The digital interactive activities can be used on a computer, smartboard, tablet, or cell phone. The digital interactive activities can be used independently or with support. The digital interactive activities include a parent letter, datasheets, access to Boom Learning, and interactive PDFs that are self-correcting. Digital interactive opportunities are paramount during distance learning for teachers to meet their students at their individual learning levels.
