Were you one of those students in class that needed to draw or color in order to express your ideas? Then you know exactly how important art and creativity can be in a classroom experience. I am a high school social studies teacher who is currently trying to incorporate more art-related activities into my classroom. I teach Psychology and American Government to juniors and seniors in the city of Chicago.
Although our school has funding for books and other materials, art supplies are usually not a top priority. Due to the low income level of my students, it is difficult to request that they bring their own supplies. I want to foster my students' creativity through extension projects, but we need more supplies to do so.
I would like to have my students create posters to serve as visual aids when we are debating, discussing, and presenting ideas to the class. Having a class set of markers is a step in the right direction. The students can share these markers and all my classes will have the opportunity to use them. This supply is essential to their growth in creativity and will help guide them in their overall understanding of class topics.
Your contribution can help my students use their minds to create and learn simultaneously. Hopefully you had teachers that helped stimulate your creativity at some point in your educational career. With your help, hopefully I can inspire mine.
