This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach Special Education students with emotional and behavior disorders in a self contained classroom.

My students have special needs that may prevent them from being successful in a regular education setting but they are often able to thrive in our small group setting with positive behavior interventions & supports.

My special education students learn best in an organized and structured environment but also benefit from frequent brain breaks. They are most focused when they are able to use engage in hands on learning that integrates art, technology, and learning through games and play.

The majority of my students come from low income households and often do not have access to technology, books, and supplies outside of school.

My Project

My special education students learn best when they are able to be hands-on, creative and interactive.

We use these art supplies and classroom basics to help integrate creative arts into our Reading, Math, and Science lessons and STEAM projects.

We have requested art supplies such as markers, crayons, pencils, and paint to help them get creative.

Most of our students come from low income families and cannot bring school supplies from home so I want to provide them with the tools they need to be successful. I love watching my students get creative and engaged in art and science projects that align with our curriculum and support their academic and behavioral goals.
