Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our classroom is an inclusive setting where my students are typical learning peers, on the spectrum of Autism, or have other specific developmental delays. In our classroom we implement table time activities that include age appropriate writing and art projects.

We like to provide opportunities that encourage expression through art, as some of our students aren’t able to verbally express themselves with language.

Students take pride in their work and seeing it displayed around the classroom. We would utilize materials such as the laminator and contact paper to preserve student art work; hooks and velcro to display our creations; construction paper and cardstock to create works with vibrant colors; and ink pads, stamps and stickers to make our creations fun.

Engaging in writing and art activities support students’ interest, creativity, and increase their fine motor capabilities. We would like to possess and replenish the materials necessary to support engagement in, and display of our students’ art works.
