My Students
Our school is absolutely amazing. We are a Level IV Special Education cooperative that serves seven school districts. We have a wonderful caring staff and awesome students who brighten our days even in the bitter cold of Minnesota winters. Our students range from kindergarten up to students who have already finished their high school careers. We have a K-4 program working with students with behavioral needs whose math/reading abilities range from emerging to proficient. Our K-21 program works with students with significant communication or neurological disorders and their focus is on effective communication. Students work in highly structured settings to assist them in academic learning, social skills, behavior modification, and daily living skills. Our oldest students (18-21) are focusing on independent living skills and work experience.
Small group sizes and tailored plans allow a great deal of focus to be on the individual students in our classes.
My Project
Our class project is for a Silhouette cutting machine and some wonderful accessories and paper. The Silhouette will be used in our classroom for art projects. With a Silhouette, students can create a variety of age-appropriate and detailed art projects beyond what they would typically be able to do with a pair of scissors. As students gain familiarity with the projects and the cutting tool, it could be used by older students to create cards or gifts to have in a "school store."
Students will be so proud of the projects they create with the help of a Silhouette.
