Let's Get Counting, The Right Way!

My students need a 1 pocket chart kit (1-100),1 set of magnetic numbers, 1 set of flip, feel, and write boards, and 1 set of grab and match leveled number sense quickies.

My Students

What would you do if you could not count? For many of my students counting to 30 is a struggle for them. Math is that one skill that is used all day, everyday and a skill you will use for the rest of your life.

The students in my classroom are first grade students who are in love with learning.

They come from all different home situations, cultures and speak other languages other than English at home. They are members of a Title I school that seems to get their budget cut more and more each year. They attend a school that seems to be forgotten, what I mean is that they do not get the necessary materials they need unless the teacher saves the funds and gets them for them.

My Project

The materials that I have requested for my students will help them reinforce basic counting. The hundreds pocket chart will allow them to remove numbers and put numbers back in order. This will help them to learn the correct order that numbers are placed in. The magnetic numbers will allow us to remove and practice ordering nunbers in different station settings. The flip, trace and write cards will allow students to use their sense in learning numbers. The students can see the number trace the number (which has sandpaper on it) and then write the number making it more tactile for them. The Grab and Match Leveled Number Sense Quickies will allow students to work on their own pace, on skills that they need for intervention time in. This will allow them to work on skills that are focused on the skills they are lacking.

I love my students very much, and would do anything for them to help make them successfull students.

These items will allow my students to put their learning into their long term memory and enriching what they have already learned. My students work hard and deserve all the things that will increase their learning.
