This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a teacher at my school and many of my students do not have toys at home, let alone dramatic play toys. I would love the opportunity to give them an engaging, hands-on learning experience in my classroom.

The kitchen will foster creativity, imagination, and social-emotional skills, while also promoting language and problem-solving abilities through engaging in pretend play and role-playing.

The kitchen will enhance their communication and language skills through sharing with peers.

In addition to enhancing interpersonal skills, dramatic play provides an outlet for children to process their emotions in a safe and creative environment. For many of our students, school is not just a place of learning but also a refuge. A play kitchen would provide them with a sense of home and belonging, giving them the chance to role-play scenarios that build confidence and resilience.
