Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The Special Needs Preschool students at Palo Verde are exceptional learners. They thrive on hands on educational experiences that combine a variety of learning styles and sensory opportunities. The mini refrigerator and toaster oven we are requesting will allow the preschoolers opportunities to learn the basics of cooking.
Cooking teaches young, diverse learners skills like pre-reading, following directions, sequencing, measuring, stirring, turn-taking and waiting.
These skills are extremely important to the development of a young child. The preschool students will be able to incorporate cooking projects in every thematic unit throughout the school year.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
