My students need comfortable and cozy seating for our reading area. Bean bag chairs would help create an inviting atmosphere that would encourage reading.

My Students

Our school is located in Moore, Oklahoma in a low to middle-class neighborhood. Although I have been teaching for 20 years, I will be embarking on a new adventure this year teaching KINDERGARTEN!! I am super excited, but do not know much about my upcoming class of children.

Kindergarten children are like little energetic sponges that are constantly soaking up knowledge.

They want to be involved, they like going places and doing things, are hands-on learners, and LOVE being read aloud to or to "read" by themselves.

My Project

I want our classroom library to be a place where my students can go to look at, or read picture books. I want to have an area in our classroom with a "homey” feel to encourage my students to sit in the bean bag chairs and enjoy turning the pages of a book.

By creating a comfy, inviting atmosphere, my students will be more likely to want to spend time in the library area.

One of the main goals of a Kindergarten teacher is to instill a love of reading and books in all students. The more inviting the reading area + more opportunities to read= the more students learn to love books.
