Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school in Miami Beach. My students are imaginative and inquisitive kids. Most of them come from underprivileged households, mostly non-English speakers. They are passionate about school, they have a great attitude towards learning. We are in the midst of the most sweeping education experiment in history. The pandemic has forced us to find ways to teach without what most important, the daily face-to-face interactions.
My Project
I teach at a Title I school where 80% of our students come from low-income households. Our school is a melting pot filled with kids from all walks of life, and over 80% speak a language other than English at home. My classroom is a self-contained class consisting of both gifted students and dual exceptionalities students. These children are our future leaders and have a unique way of looking at the world. I want to help facilitate the right environment to help them grow and succeed.
My students need comfy floor seats as part of our classroom’s flexible seating environment.
An uncomfortable student is a distracted and unproductive student. These seats will encourage students to seek their best spot to stay calm, focused, and productive. This benefits students as they work on finding the way they learn best. Comfortable students are engaged students. I am excited to incorporate this student engagement tool into my classroom!
