Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a new first grade teacher I am trying to create a warm and welcoming environment. I believe it is important for my students to feel comfortable learning in their classroom, so a new and clean carpet will make their experience during carpet time much more enticing. Our current carpet is well loved but cannot keep up with the increase in number of students. I would love for my parents and students to walk into my classroom with the focal point of a colorful carpet that is inviting! My first graders are still learning self control and to keep their hands to themselves, so the clear boundary designated for each student on this carpet can better help them see this physical boundary.

I would love to encourage my students in their learning by making carpet time a fun physical space that they spend in investing in their learning.

We will be using this carpet during phonics lessons, read alouds, social emotional learning and math circle time. My students are eager to share stories and build friendships with one another, so this carpet would greatly benefit their circle time and pair sharing with one another.
