My students need to explore, discover, and learn all about insects!! They will have access to insect books, life cycle specimens, and inflatable life cycle stages.
My students are bright, brilliant little beings. They are all special children with unique needs. I teach students with autism, and it is the most rewarding experience ever. They come from low-income families and most of my students come to school hungry.
I teach at a Title I school where students receive a free breakfast every morning.
Once their little bellies are full in the morning, they’re ready for learning. My students thrive off structure and routine in the classroom.
My Project
This is a great project that will allow for my students to learn all about insects in a hands-on way!! Students with autism love to really see and feel what they're learning in my classroom. Over the last three years, I always order caterpillars, ants, mealworms, and ladybug larvae. They really enjoy learning about these interesting litter creatures.
My students will be able to use the magnifying center to look up close at all the insects!!
My students are Kindergarten to Second grade, so the variety of supplies for their grade levels is very beneficial. The books relating to their grade level is a great learning tool. They will be able to learn the life cycle with ease with the centers in this project. They will have numerous activities to really enjoy this special science unit and focus on STEM for a month. They will explore so many life cycles of different insects. Some of the life cycle manipulatives will be a big hit because instead of writing and drawing they will be able to order them with their hands.
