My Students

Some people think I torture kids but really I teach Geometry. Some might agree that it's the same thing!

Most students are returning to in-person learning for the first time in over a year of being fully virtual.

This will be a positive change from being in front of a computer screen 24/7.

As a math teacher, many of my students (and parents) come in with a negative attitude towards math, especially Geometry. As much as possible, I try to make learning engaging with activities that allow them to use hands-on tools, discuss with their peers and just get up out of their seats. My goal is that when they leave me, they feel excited and confident to continue growing their knowledge of mathematics!

My Project

The use of whiteboards and dry erase markers is almost a daily activity in class, especially in Geometry. Whiteboards will be used to practice their conceptual math skills. The whiteboards allow me as well as my co-teachers to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. The jumbo coordinate grids will allow students to manipulate figures and share their learning with their peers. The voice amplifiers will be used by myself and my co-teacher when teaching new concepts or just leading a fun activity. The facemasks sometimes make it difficult for us to project our voices and students to hear us.

By donating to our project, you are not only allowing students to practice with hands-on tools to be successful in Geometry, you will ultimately help them to hear lessons loud and clear!

Students will be able to step away from the screens and work hands-on with math concepts and not have to ask teachers to repeat things because of volume, just when they don't understand.
