My Students

As kindergartners, my students are sponges that need constant movement, bright colors and stimulation to soak up every bit of information that I am teaching them.

My students' personalities range from quiet to loud, rambunctious to shy, but all have a desire to learn more about the world around them.

Most of my students live in a rural, impoverished area of our county. They love to explore with their hands, try out new things and listen to books about new places and experiences. My favorite thing about teaching kindergarten is that I get the opportunity to see a spark of interest grow into a roaring love of learning.

My Project

A "Let's Find Out" subscription will allow my students to explore the world around them while building nonfiction literacy skills.

How does an apple tree grow, how did Pilgrim and Native American children live compared to kids today, or what is the difference between a want and a need?

This Scholastic magazine offers four monthly paper issues per child that is aligned to NC science and social studies standards like these. It also boasts online issues with an introductory video, interactive learning games and extension activities. With bright photographs, students are exposed to the world around them. Please consider supporting my classroom and opening a world of learning to a whole new generation!
