Help me give my students a full belly so they can focus on their learning. Having snacks available in the classroom will eliminate the distraction of hunger between meals.
Each morning our 4th grade students arrive at school eager to learn. All students receive a small free breakfast as they enter our building. The children enter the classroom with smiling eyes, and I'm sure smiling faces too (but as of this time our district still requires masks to be worn for all students and staff). Students also receive free lunch.
By having snacks in the classroom it will eliminate the hunger that some students have throughout the school day.
Students can focus their attention on their learning and not the grumbling sounds in their hungry tummies.
The families in my school are low income and/or English language learners with limited learning resources.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
