Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being a Title I school, almost all of my students are second language learners. Their drive to learn and achieve is amazing.

Design and engineering challenges and STEAM activities are a part of our school's climate.

Our students have embraced transitioning to a STEAM school.

My students are the face of the United States of America. Some were born in this country to English speaking parents. Some were born in the United States to Spanish or Vietnamese speaking parents. Others were born in another country and immigrated to the United States. One thing that all of my students have in common is their zest for learning. They are so wonderful in that they don't see the differences between each other.

My Project

My wonderful third graders need LEGO bricks and compatible building brick glasses to display their unique personalities. As we begin a new school year, it is important for each student to recognize the unique qualities of each class member.

Third graders love to build and create, essentially they are engineers designing and creating new and innovative products.

Unfortunately, due to a spare the air day during the first week of school, we had an indoor recess. My students were beyond excited when I brought the LEGO bricks out. There were so many unique creations in such a short time. Just think what they will create with these "glasses" frames and LEGO bricks!
