My Project
Our Fun Food Friday's have been going awesome! We have eaten kale, tomatoes, and radishes out of the garden as well as chicken long rice from birds we have raised ourselves. Every time we eat, we need plates or bowls and silverware. Having a stockpile of paper goods for the days that we eat would be great! We also need storage containers to put all the paper goods in to stay clean and in one place.
Fun Food Friday's have been something the students really look forward to, and I have managed to get them to eat things way outside of their comfort zones.
Being able to grow something, harvest and wash it, and see how it can be cooked is very eye-opening for my students who have not done anything like that before. Many of them don't realize the chickens running outside on the farm is actually there for dinner! They are wary at first, but after their classmates eat the food they try it and most times they really like it. I am happy that my students are able to try new things from the garden and also to sit down and have a small snack/meal with their classmates and build that comradery. I have a feeling lots of other kids will be taking this class in the future just for the food we get to eat!
