My students need the sewing machine to be able to learn the fundamental elements of costume design. The body form and materials will be used to support the process of costume design.

As we continue to grow, I want to be able to provide more opportunities for students to use technology. Beginning in Seventh Grade, our students will learn how to complete basic costume design. This means that we are in need of sewing machines. This ties in with our curriculum and allows students to begin the craft of costume design, which is an essential skill in theatre arts. Every student will participate in this project during their seventh grade year.
My Project
My students flourish from year to year. I am always looking for new and exciting opportunities for my students to learn advanced tasks within all parts of theatre. Costume Design is very important for my students. With the sewing machine and materials to work with, my students will begin to kinesthetically apply the principles of costuming.
Costuming gives creative illusion, that without, theatre would be unadorned!
Costume Design provides a pathway to achieve the overall goal within a play or musical. My students will be required to design concepts for costuming, provide sketches, and develop/present a finished piece of costuming in a fashion show that will commence in the spring of this next school year.
