My Students
We have a wonderful group of students who need a place on campus, a middle school serving approximately 700 seventh and eighth-grade students of whom nearly 25% have parents who serve in the military.
Our students need to play non-computer games and puzzles so the caan actively engage with other students.
My Project
The library at our School is a hub of activity. Students come in during recess and lunch to relax, read, and socialize. I do not allow computer games and prefer less screen time.
I believe students need more hands-on activities and socializing with each other, especially after many months of isolation due to Covid-19.
I have several chess and checkers games that are very popular. At first, many students did not know how to play chess but started learning by observing others. Students are teaching other students how to play. I put a deck of cards out on the table and was surprised that some students had no idea what to do with them.
