My Project

It has always been my mission to push the envelope of Education and technology. When system and devices can enhance learning, and safe students and educators time and money it is a synergy like no other. This year we were fortunate to receive partial funding to pilot a new idea. Providing all Jazz Band students with an iPad to read and perform their music from rather than the many binder, papers, and books they must use in the course of the year.

The goal is to save time printing, preparing, and maintaining the many Band folders and save money on copies and ink though digital music distribution.

These savings should greatly offset the cost of devices over time while also enhancing student learning. Students will be able to use industry standard apps to make color coded notes in their music, record their playing to submit assignments, and have all their music in one place easy to find.

Fortunately for us our student enrollment is at an all time high and we anticipated about 45 students enrolled in Jazz Band. We are currently sitting at 40 as of the first day of school.

Unfortunately the district was only able to provide us with 30 tablets leaving us about 10 iPads short for our 1:1 goal of this pilot and meaning that as the director I have to still provide and prepare materials for this group the traditional way for those 10 kids until we can get some devices in their hands.

Will you help my students by donating to cover 2 more iPads and cases to get us closer to our goal of every student having the same device and proving a digital classroom can enhance Band learning? If this pilot is successful we want to expand to more groups.
