Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am fortunate to teach a group of hard working, highly skilled, and determined 9th graders. Our public high school serves 9th through 12th graders in Humble, TX. Our school serves a wide range of eager and enthusiastic learners from different backgrounds and cultures. Even with the challenges our students face, our students and staff are enthusiastic and ready to learn and explore new ideas. Our goal is not to just prepare our students for success in career, trade school, and college, but to nurture positive relationships.
My Project
I am requesting an Apple TV and an iPad for my classroom. This will allow us to project nearly anything from the classroom iPad onto the classroom projector screen. Using Airplay with the Apple TV will allow the teacher to have the lesson on their iPad, connect to the Apple TV and still be able to walk and monitor students' progress while teaching, instead of standing at the front of the room for the entire lesson.
These two devices provide my scholars with a unique opportunity to become more interactive and engaged in the lesson by sharing their own work by either writing on the iPad and sharing it through the Apple TV or by using Airplay to share their own work via their own device.
With an Apple TV device, we can project things that the whole group can easily see. This device can also be used at open house or other times when visitors are in our classroom, to present slide shows, scrolling announcements, and more. I had an Apple TV device in my classroom at my former district, and my students and I used it every day.
