School gardens serve as vibrant outdoor classrooms, where students cultivate not only plants but also invaluable skills and knowledge. These green spaces offer a multitude of benefits, ranging from fostering a deeper connection with nature to promoting healthier lifestyles and enhancing academic performance.
We are requesting tools that students can use to plant the garden and tend to it as it grows.
Planting directly into the garden will allow students to learn about how plants grow and will also save us money planting from seed. The tools, including the sprinkler system and plant covers, will also be used to take care of the soil before and after planting.
Working in a school garden will be a fun learning experience for our students while also teaching them responsibility. They will feel proud of the work they do while taking care of nature. Students will also be able to learn about different plants and try new vegetables that come directly from the school garden! The garden will also give students the opportunity to apply learning from the classroom while working in the garden. Students will have opportunities to read and research about different plants and then use math to count, measure, and plan for the garden.
Our school garden will benefit all 877 students in our school as every classroom will have the opportunity to visit and work in our garden. Thank you for considering helping us get our school garden growing!
