it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

At Lauer's Park we strive to make reading a joy. We aim to create areas in our library and our entire school that are peaceful and relaxing places to read for fun!
Our city is on the top of list of poorest in the country.
Our students are served breakfast every morning and more than 80% receive free or reduced lunches. Many are second language learners. They do not have the reading background that may students come to school with. Despite that, they work hard and are very proud of our school and community.
My Project
Our Book Nook is a special area in our library that promotes reading for fun. After students check out books, they can earn special passes to go relax and read. It is colorful and welcoming but it needs these items to complete the picture.

The students will use the Book Nook every day in the library at all ages. The multiple handicap students love to relax and enjoy this area as well. It is enjoyed by all and could be so much better with just a few important items!
This project will help us complete our Book Nook.
Giving our students a desire to read and the passion to become lifelong reading and learners is so important for their futures. If we open this book we can open their future!
