This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What is an 'A' and what do we need to know it for, we just wanna play!" This is what I know my children think when we talk about the alphabet, and forget about numbers! My job is not only get them to learn capital and lowercase letters, and numbers up to 20, but to also teach them how to use them

"My students are 4 and 5 years old, from low income families, who are also learning English as a second language.

There are 18 children in my class and we are part of an elementary school. Many of the children are the first born, so I am also introducing their families to school for the first time, and hoping to set a good foundation for the rest of their child's education.

My Project

These resources will provide hands on manipulatives for my students to continue to increase their knowledge and ability to use letters and numbers. They will be able to recognize and identify capital and lowercase letters, and to begin to produce the individual sounds associated with each letter. They will also be able to recognize and identify numbers up to 20, and to use one to one correspondence to count and label the correct amount for numbers up to 10 and maybe even 20. We are setting the foundation for a child's future education, and with success and understanding, there is no telling what each child will be able to accomplish, and how far they will be able to go. Your donation will make a difference and will support quality education for years to come. Thank you in advance for your support and I can't wait to share the accomplishments of my class with you!

Letter recognition is the beginning of reading, and we all need to know how to count and manipulate numbers to function in society.

Your donations to fund this project will make a difference in the lives of these particular children and many others, for years to come. We want to give children every advantage to be successful, and this is a step in the right direction. By using hands on manipulative's the children will have chances to explore letters and numbers, and will learn to use them.
